TVP operates a unique dual-mentor model. Each mentee is partnered with two mentors, who both support them on their post-secondary journey and to help close the education-to-employment gap.

Why Mentorship?

Despite being very academically successful in high school, post-secondary environments have proved difficult to navigate for Valedictorians, as demonstrated by the Boston Globe when they profiled Boston Public School Valedictorians in 2019.

The Valedictorians interviewed by the Globe didn’t anticipate the challenges they faced in life after high school: campus culture shock, severe stress, crippling student debt, lack of support and guidance, and more.

Our brightest students deserve better. To continue to meet their goals, students transitioning from high school to the next phase of their lives need support, guidance, and consistent, reliable mentorship.

While there are many factors that impact a student’s success after high school, TVP focuses on meaningful mentorship and skill development for students upon graduation and throughout the next steps.

Mentors provide consistent support, coaching, and guidance to ensure that mentees have a continued network of support through new challenges.

Our Unique Dual-Mentor Model

Peer Mentors

Individuals who have recently started working, are completing their college education, or recently graduated. Their goal is to provide mentees with guidance as they enter college or begin their careers.

Senior Mentors

Individuals who have completed their education or have been working in established careers for some time. Their goal is to provide mentees with guidance and support as they consider long-term career or professional goals and plans.
