The Valedictorian Project partners with high-achieving students from urban high schools as they start their post-secondary journey.
In January of 2019, the Boston Globe published a series called “The Valedictorian Project,” which located 93 out of 113 Boston Public Schools Valedictorians from the classes of 2005, 2006, and 2007 and profiled their journeys after high school. Of those interviewed, more than half were born outside of the U.S. and nearly 80 percent became the first in their families to go to college. These students excelled during high school, reaching high levels of achievement and fostering big dreams, but most ultimately faced significant hardships and challenges.

Mentorship.
To continue to meet their goals — including high levels of achievement — students transitioning from high school to the next phase of their lives need support, guidance, and consistent, reliable coaching.
Success through transition.
We pair each mentee with two mentors — a Peer Mentor and a Senior Mentor — to ensure they have what they need to make their next step as bold and bright as they are.
