The Boston Globe publishes an investigative series, titled “The Valedictorians Project”, which profiles the untapped potential of the city’s public school valedictorians.
TVP is founded by Warren Tolman, Amy McDermott, and Danielle McCourt, in direct response to the Globe’s research piece.
TVP welcomes 25 Valedictorians from Boston Public High Schools and 55 mentors as a part of its first cohort.
TVP earns its 501(c)(3) non-profit status.
TVP expands its program to welcome Valedictorians and Salutatorians from Lawrence Public High Schools. TVP welcomes its second class from Boston Public Schools and has its first full-time team of two staff members. TVP receives its 501(c )(3) distrinction.
TVP launches the Futures Fund, to provide mentees with financial support aimed at bridging the gap between financial aid, and the cost of attending college or starting a career.
TVP launches in Worcester and Brockton, welcomes its 3rd class of Boston Public Schools, and pilots a nomination program with Lawrence Public Schools that welcomes more students into the program.
TVP welcomes its 4th class from Boston Public Schools, and expands its nomination program to Brockton, Chelsea, and Worcester, while continuing to welcome nominated students from Lawrence Public Schools.
