Loans, financial aid, and scholarships often do not cover all expenses associated with attending college. Financial concerns disproportionately impact students who are first-generation, students of color, and students from low-income households. This burden hinders a student’s ability to focus on what matters most, their academics and participation in campus life.
We want to change that.
Bridging the Gap
TVP’s Futures Fund was established to help cover unanticipated expenses that might arise while mentees are at school. Given the significant costs of attending college, most students often fear being unable to meet tuition costs and cover monthly expenses. Financial stress can have a significant impact on a young person’s ability to participate with peers and colleagues, and it can negatively impact their sense of belonging to their community.
For all these reasons, each participating TVP mentee will receive a $500 stipend to help cover costs that arise throughout the school year.
